Q. How do I attend the Walk to Emmaus?
A. A person who has experienced the Walk to Emmaus sponsors you. This frees you from any personal
responsibilities that might distract you while on the experience, and supports your 72-hour experience
with prayer and other expressions of God's love.

Q. What is the purpose of the Walk to Emmaus?
A. Emmaus exists to develop Christian leaders for the local church and the world. The approach seriously
considers the model of Christ's servant hood and encourages Christ's disciples to act in ways
appropriate to being "a servant of all."

Q. What happens during the Walk to Emmaus?
A. A set of 15 talks will be delivered by lay and clergy speakers and will constitute a short course on
Christianity.

Q, Will communion be served during the Walk?
A. Communion will be served every day during the Walk.

Q. What happens after the Walk to Emmaus?
A. In Luke 24:13-35 the Gospel of Luke relates the story of Christ joining two friends on the road from
Jerusalem to Emmaus. Cleopas and his companion immediately returned to tell other disciples about
their encounter with Christ. A regular, ongoing time of sharing together our journey with Christ is part
of the follow-up to the experience. A monthly celebration open to all encourages discipleship. Weekly,
small-group meetings are open to all persons wanting to grow in accountability for their relationship
with Christ.

Q. Where does it take place?
A. A community of Christians from a variety of churches provides a place, leadership, and all the support
necessary to conduct the Walk to Emmaus weekend.

Q. Do both husband and wife have to attend set same set of Walks?
A. Husbands and wives are encouraged to attend Emmaus during the same set of weekends. If a sponsor
talks with both the husband and the wife and one is not interested the application for one person should
be submitted with an explanation attached. All exceptions will be voted on by the Board of Directors.

Q. How long must I wait after my Walk before I can sponsor someone?
A. All persons who wish to be sponsors must complete Sponsorship Training. This normally takes one year;
if you wish to sponsor within the year, you must have a co-sponsor who has completed the Sponsorship
Training Course.

Q. How long must I wait after my Walk before I can be considered to serve on a team?
A. No less than one year; however, you can serve in other positions (kitchen, housing, etc) as soon as the
next Walk.

Q. What are the qualifications for serving on a team?
A. By being active in a reunion group, attending Emmaus events (Gatherings, Send-offs, Candlelight,
Closings) progressive servant hood (from behind the scenes such as kitchen, housing, etc. to ATL to TL
to ALD, etc).

Q. How many pieces of Agape are needed for each Walk?
A. No less than 70 for each Walk. If there are extra they will be returned to the Reunion Group for the next
Walks.

Q. What types of things should I bring for snacks for the Walks.
A. Brownies, candy, chips, cookies, sodas, and fruit are always good, but don't forget that there are
diabetics on the Walk also. Remember to bring some "sugar free" things for them.

Q. How much does it cost to attend a Weekend?
A. Only $120 and that is for room and board for 3 nights and 3 days. You must make a non-refundable
deposit of $40 when you submit you application.

Q. Can I bring guests to Emmaus events.
A. All Emmaus Gatherings are open to guests but Walk Send-offs, Candlelight and Closings are closed to
non-Emmaus members.
